The idea of the dark background with isolated portraits by Francis Bacon was the inspiration originally for a single window in this picture which would feature in a simultaneously light and dark wall. This concept later developed into a row of windows similar to Bacon's triptychons. On the title: Isabel Rawsthorne sat not only for Francis Bacon but also Picasso and Giacometti. A competition bearing her name, in which a cartoon character from the “Stern” magazine from 1970 won the so-called rubber horse possibly does not exist. The rubber horse was inflatable and could, if desired, by knotted around the waist. The art market today is, figuratively speaking, ‘inflatable’ and can be bound around the hips, at least some manage to achieve this.
